Barnard Castle report 2020

 

A largely disappointing one on the whole as a team by our standards. Except for Kevin Siddle reaching the singles final and myself reaching the semi final of the singles too, we both fell at the hurdle that was Danny Langdon as he deservedly won the singles trophy. 

The fours discipline was won by Rose Haynes North Yorkshire's 4.

 

Royston Lewis qualified out of the group stages in all 4 disciplines, rather bizarrely the only player to do so from West Yorkshire, although had Dave Newsome not missed a sitter of a fire against me in the singles' group stages then that could of been in doubt. On a personal note, I felt I'd justified myself in the singles run this time, I had to go through Chris Crowther, Dave Newsome and Peter Roberts to get to Danny Langdon. 

 

The pairs had a big clash, again with myself (I'm not bragging honest) and Dave v Adam Lamb & Josh Towey. We exchanged  1s and 2s until they cashed in on a 4 which was ultimately decisive. I threw everything, and I mean everything at Josh and Adam. Dave lead brilliantly for me in this 1. The Dave Fletcher of old but we eventually lost by 2 shots, there were a lot of people watching and the support was brilliant for both sides. Adam & Josh got beat in the finals by Bill Burn and John Pajak. 

 

In the trips, myself, Tony Farrar & Paul King beat our other trips of Marc, Matthew & Ben, before we lost to eventual triples winners of Clint & June Crowther and Peter Roberts. 

 

Yet again it was brilliantly run by Andy and Barbara Miles.
